The topic of food security is always relevant, since in any socio-economic conditions existing in the state, the problem of providing the population with food is of state and public importance. Ensuring food security is a complex task associated with the implementation of the state agricultural policy aimed at the sustainable development of domestic agriculture and the entire agro-industrial complex of the country, as well as the formation of a system of social relations through the economic and physical availability of food for all segments of the population. The relevance of the topic of food security is of keen interest among scientists and practitioners in the Russian Federation and foreign countries, as evidenced by a significant number of publications in various publications. The aim of the study is to identify new approaches to defining the directions and tasks of ensuring food security of the Russian state in modern conditions. The theoretical and practical significance of the research is focused on the use of the material in the agricultural management system and research activities of students in agricultural education institutions. Research methodology topics are associated with the use of methods: analysis, synthesis; generalizations; comparative jurisprudence.
