The effect of robotization on the unemployment level

E.A. Skvortsov, kandidat ekonomicheskih nauk, spetsialist po nauchnoy rabote UrGAU.

According to experts, recent technological advances in big data, machine learning and robotics can have a negative impact on existing employment opportunities for people. Numerous studies show an alarming decline in employment for people with low and middle incomes as a result of production robotization. According to Oxford researchers Frey and Osbourne in 2013, 47% of the 702 surveyed occupations in the United States faced a high risk of declining employment over the next 10-25 years as a result of the development of digital technologies. Despite the seemingly bleak future foreshadowed by these estimates, the massive replacement of labor by robots is not likely to become a reality in the foreseeable future for a number of reasons.
