A lot has been said about the positive role of cooperation, but even now many areas of the cooperative movement are quite weak and are at the stage of gradual development. Cooperation needs significant external support. There are also many difficulties in the way of newly created cooperatives. One of them is the lack of consistency in the activities of cooperatives. The Association of cooperative organizations in Russia is not able to fully implement its goals and objectives, since a unified strategy for the development of the cooperative movement has not yet been developed. Cooperatives will be viable only if they go beyond their own borders and combine into a single system that will be based on regulated commodity relations. The result of integration work should be the creation of an agro-industrial Union of cooperatives of various types at the regional level, which can oppose competition between cooperatives by joint activities in order to ensure the sustainable development of agricultural production and increase the competitiveness of the domestic food market. There is a positive trend in the development of the cooperative movement. First of all, it is related to the state policy of supporting agricultural cooperation. In conditions of incomplete satisfaction of demand for agricultural products, it is most likely that there will be a moderate growth of agricultural cooperatives. This should lead to a relative stabilization of the cooperative movement. Priority areas for the development of the agricultural cooperative movement in Russia should include participation in the development of social infrastructure in rural areas, ensuring the stable development of the country's consumer market by meeting the needs and social protection, increasing employment, and strengthening Russia's food security.
