In the official medicine, maral root (Rhaponticum carthamoides Willd.) began to be used in 50-ies of the last century. The underground organs of the plant contain the sum of phytoecdysons, flavonoids, tannins, essential oil, resins, carotene, ascorbic acid, coumarins, organic acids. For medicinal purposes, rhizomes with roots are used. In culture, harvesting is carried out for 3-4 years after sowing, when the underground part reaches maximum development, but does not yet have dead roots.
