Abstract. The purpose of the work is to determine the class of the sanitary state of the Shartash forest park in the city of Yekaterinburg. The research methods used in the work are the analysis of the areas of green spaces in the Kirovsky district and the synthesis of data obtained when working with sample plots in the Shartash forest park, the rationale for the choice of the specified forest park. A brief description of the main forested areas (parks, squares, gardens) of the Kirovsky district of Yekaterinburg is given. The share of the area occupied by tree plantations of the total area of the district is given. In the course of the work, 147 test plots were laid, on the territory of which the classes of the sanitary state of tree plantations were determined. On trial plots with a total area of 36.8 hectares, 128,800 tree plantations were obtained by means of a continuous list of tree plantations. When developing a baseline plan of test plots to fix the location of woody plants on its territory, we used a GPS receiver, then, the collected data were processed using the MapInfo program. Simultaneously with the fixation of the locations of the trees, the species (during the inspection), diameter (with a measuring fork) and height (with an altimeter) were determined. As a result of the research, the middle class of sanitary condition was determined, measures were proposed to eliminate the identified problems. The scientific novelty lies in the initial detailed study of the territory (Shartash forest park). The results of the study on the trial plots of the Shartash forest park show that the average class of sanitary condition was 3.1. This indicates that there are the following problems on the territory of the park: weak growth of species, drying out of branches, low quality of the living ground cover.
